Topics covered will include:

  • Defining microaggressions and understanding their impact
  • Recognizing common types of microaggressions faced by Muslims
  • Exploring strategies for responding to and addressing microaggressions
  • Building resilience and self-advocacy skills

Trainers

Amna Burki holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Management, a Master’s degree from the London School of Economics in Gender and Development Studies, and 20+ years of work and volunteer experience, Amna has used her facilitation and mentoring skills in capacity-building with newcomers, families, and service providers.

Robyn Penner Thiessen has been on a lifelong journey to encounter, understand and build bridges across cultural differences. Her seven years living in Nairobi, Kenya, and her research into interreligious dialogue deepened her insight into diverse perspectives. She worked with an international relief and development organization with staff in over 40 countries and helped revitalize their diversity, equity and inclusion work around the world.
